Attree Update

Grand Final Weekend We had both One Day D's and G's playing off in the grand final for premiership glory over the weekend with mixed results again. Here's how the final weekend of the season finished up. We will start with One Day G's who travelled to Dick Lawrence oval to play Kardinya Lakes. Our boys lost the toss and we're sent out to bowl. 2 early wickets got the boys up and about with a run out and also Holmsey getting a knick through to the keeper, unfortunately the home side steadied and put on 90 for the 3rd wicket before Sniffy got a breakthrough. Big Kev rearranged the stumps for another wicket on 112 but that's where the wickets finished and Kardinya finished on 4/144 after their 35 overs. Our run chase started with Jay Z and Sniffy opening and we lost our first wicket with the score on 7 due to a stumping. Jay Z was caught & bowled with the score on 16 and that became 3-33 (firdy free) when Kev Crudeli was caught. Kev Attree was run out before getting a chance to show the form he has all year and then Yappa was caught and we were 5-40. Captain Holmsey hit a good 30 under pressure before departing then Tosh was run out in an unsportsmanlike effort from the home side whilst using a runner (albeit not on this occasion) for 27. Kingy, Colby & Rod Buckland tried with Kenny Crook remaining unbeaten but we couldn't get there and we finished being bowled out for 113. Tough day to finish the season for the G bangers but I'm sure most of the boys will be back for another crack after a very successful and enjoyable season.

The D train hosted Kenwick at the home of cricket and after winning the toss decided to bat. Riggy and Mike Irwin opening up and we got to 21 before Oils was bowled. Mike departed soon after to a blinder of a catch and T Mac was given out down legside after missing it by a long way. 3-31 became 4-35 after S Marr was caught. Urby came to the crease and hit a fine 29 to help the total along and Mitchy Poller spent time at the crease and got 15. The tail didn't really wag with Davros run out, Gav Poller LBW, Rooster bowled and Jedi caught in the last over trying for precious runs. So 126 was the total and although on the small side it was runs on the board and with a good attack we thought we were a decent chance if we bowled well. S Marr and Gav Poller opened the bowling with Gav putting the calf injury out of his mind to bowl exceptionally well and claim 4/17. After 16 overs we were right on top with Kenwick 5 for very little. Davros came on and picked up a couple himself and from there it was only a matter of time before the visitors completely capitulated with Riggy coming on and cleaning up the last 3 wickets (including wicket no. 350) to bowl them out for 82 in 32.4 overs. Fantastic bowling and fielding effort by the boys to get a flag on the wall in the Den. Gav Poller picking up the Norm Smith for his 4 poles and tearing the calf on his last delivery 'again'.

Thanks to all the boys who contributed in some way shape or form throughout the year as it takes more than 11 players to achieve this and to Smithy and Jo for a power of work done this season. Happy footy season boys.
